Marquette Tribune Centenary Exhibit

March 2016 — Raynor Exhibit Celebrates Tribune’s Centenary
“Celebrating a Century of the Marquette Tribune: A Retrospective,” a new exhibit on display at the Raynor Memorial Libraries, showcases some of the pivotal moments captured by the Tribune since it debuted in September, 1916.

Full-size reproductions of front pages spotlight campus reactions to momentous local and national events — from the demolition of Plankinton mansion to the Kennedy assassination. Archival photographs give a behind-the-scenes peek into the work of the student staff through the years.

Complementing the in-person exhibit is the Marquette Tribune Online, a growing collection of digitized back issues. More than a decade of the earliest Tribunes are currently available, and more are being added on a regular basis.

The contents are fully searchable, and issues can be browsed by academic year. The Marquette Tribune Online is a digitization project of the Libraries’ Department of Special Collections and University Archives, funded by a generous initial gift from the Greveldinger Estate.

The “Celebrating a Century of the Marquette Tribune” exhibit will be on display through spring 2017 on the third floor of Raynor Library. All items featured in the exhibit hail from the Libraries’ University Archives, which holds the Tribune archive, as well as a vast collection of other historical materials and official records produced by the university.
