New Library
StaffJanuary 2012—Raynor Memorial Libraries welcomes five recent appointees to their new positions. Two moved from other positions within the library and, interestingly, two are Marquette alumnae. In alphabetical order:

Dr. Tara Baillargeon was appointed to the position as Head of Research and Instructional Services effective December 1. Tara comes to Marquette from Kansas State University Libraries, where she was head of faculty and graduate services and also served as an affiliated faculty member in women’s studies. Her doctoral dissertation (in educational leadership from Kansas State) focused on the development of an e-museum for the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum; her master of library and information science is from the University of Western Ontario.

Rosemary Del Toro has been named to a new position as Collection and Resource Management Librarian. Working primarily with the Associate Dean of Scholarly Resources and Collections, Scott Mandernack, she assists with the licensing, renewals, and statistical data for electronic resources; the management and assessment of collections; and the Libraries’ efforts in emerging scholarly communication practices. Rosemary holds a B.S. in biology from the University of Southern Indiana and a Master's in Library and Information Science from UW-Milwaukee. She joined the Science Library's reference department in 1999 and moved to Research & Instructional Services when Raynor opened. She has served as liaison to several science departments on campus and will continue to serve as the liaison to the School of Dentistry.

Mary Wacker fills a new position as assistant to the Dean of Libraries. Previously she was the associate director of Alpha Sigma Nu, the Jesuit Honor Society. She earned her B.A. in Communication at Marquette and has also worked in undergraduate admissions and as an adjunct faculty member in the College of Communication, teaching public speaking and acting. Her new position's primary function is to provide administrative support to Dean Janice Welburn, and to coordinate the day-to-day functions of the Dean’s Office. She adds, "I look forward to working with the wide variety of talented faculty and staff in the library and throughout the Marquette community."

Liz Wawryzniak is the new evening supervisor for the Reserves Department, located in Raynor Library. She has her B.A. from Marquette in English Literature and an M.A. from the University of Leeds in Medieval Studies. Currently she is pursuing a second Master's in English Literature here at Marquette. Before moving to Reserves in August, 2011, she worked in the Dean’s Office as an office associate providing support for payroll and purchasing in the library. In Reserves, "I provide supervision for the students in the late afternoon and evening, and work with faculty requests for Ares, putting hardcopy items on reserve or scanning items for electronic reserve. A big part of my new job is pursuing copyright permissions for items on electronic reserve."

Emily Zegers was appointed Digital Projects Technician effective January 2. Her position supports the mediated deposit of Marquette student and faculty scholarship to the digital repository, e-Publications@Marquette, including publisher permissions. Emily holds a B.A. in Communication from UW-Green Bay and just received her Master of Library and Information Science from UW-Milwaukee in December. During graduate school she held a number of positions and internships at UWM's Golda Meir Library, including Research and Instruction Assistant, Curriculum Collection Assistant, and one year-plus as Digitization Assistant, where she was charged with preserving and making digitally accessible more than 68,000 nitrate negatives from the American Geographical Society's historic photography collection.
