The Information Commons provides desktop applications for academic purposes. Staff are available at the Information Desk to assist patrons with beginning-to
intermediate-level questions. Given the number of applications available, the staff cannot provide advanced tech support on a walk-in basis. We will however
endeavor to provide referrals or arrange an appointment for you to meet with someone who may be more knowledgeable. Staff will guide patrons, offer advice
on methods to maximize application functionality, and perform tasks as a demonstration of a function; however, staff will not complete a patron's work. During
busy periods at the desk, priority will be given to short and urgent problems over in-depth training. Patrons who are novices with a software package should
allow an appropriate amount of time to become familiar with the package and to complete their own work.
There are two ways to use library resources from off-campus: with VPN software provided by ITS, or by authenticating via the Library’s proxy server.
