1970-1979

1971 Reunion year

Charles J. Weber, Grad ’71, painted a live portrait of Brett Favre of the Green Bay Packers and his wife, Deanna, at a charity event in Biloxi, Miss., hosted by the Brett Favre Forward Foundation. The event raised money for women with cancer.

1972

Harvey J. Sobocinski, Arts ’72, Grad ’74, Grad ’80, was awarded the Charles “Gordie” Baker Exceptional Fan award by the Marquette University women’s basketball team for the 2004-05 season.

1973

Thomas A. Feiza, Eng ’73, will write a monthly column in the Watertown Daily Times of Watertown, Wis., on a range of home improvement topics. Known as “Mr. Fix-it,” Feiza writes a weekly question-and-answer column published in more than 80 newspapers. He also hosts a weekly call-in radio show in Milwaukee and has appeared on local and national television shows.

Dr. Gary A. Macy, Arts ’71, Grad ’73, has been awarded a fellowship at the National Humanities Center for the 2005-06 academic year. He is publishing three books this year, one of which is co-authored with his former professor at Marquette, Dr. Bernard Cooke. Their book, Christian Symbol and Ritual: An Introduction, was published by Oxford University Press in August as their third collaborative publication.
Patricia M. Sweeney-Pakiz, Nurs ’73, completed one unit of clinical pastoral education. She works as chaplain at Alegent Health in Omaha.

1974

Joseph C. Pinney, Dent ’74, was named a “Best of the Best Dentists” in central Arkansas. His son, Dr. Ted Pinney, joined his practice in 2004 and his daughter, Jodi, is attending dental hygiene school. She will join the practice in 2006.

1975

Dr. Jeffrey R. Jones, Dent ’75, owns the Eau Claire Express, a Northwoods League expansion baseball team based in Eau Claire, Wis. He developed themes for the games to build fan spirit, including a Harley Night at which players ride motorcycles out to the field. He lives in Eau Claire with his wife, Karen. They have three adult children: Ryan, Kristen and Stephanie.

1976 Reunion year

Catherine (Shriver) Shaker, Sp ’76, Grad ’77, was awarded board recognition in swallowing and swallowing disorders through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. A pediatric speech-language pathologist, she is a swallowing specialist who works with premature infants in the Level III neonatal intensive care unit at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Milwaukee.
Dr. William C. Vesely, Arts ’76, celebrated 25 years of dental practice in Ottowa, Ill. His practice covers all aspects of general dentistry, including cosmetic dentistry.

1977

Alice D. Johnson, Grad ’77, is founder and artistic director of the Modjeska Youth Theatre Co. She has directed more than 9,000 children and young adults in musical theatre since the company’s founding in 1997.

1978

Susan (Smith) Harnett, Sp ’78, was appointed business manager of Citibank Privatkunden in Germany, responsible for consumer banking activities. She was previously director of retail banking and the deputy CEO for Citigroup’s consumer business in Europe, Central Europe, Russia, the Middle East and Africa. She is married and has two children.

1979

Virginia (Bronesky) Stuesser, Jour ’79, joined the advertising agency Nonbox/
Eisner as media director, responsible for media operations for offices in Milwaukee, Portland and Orlando.
