Terri Mitchell has led the Marquette women’s basketball team as head coach since 1996. She’s the winningest coach in the history of Marquette women’s basketball, and she was named the Big East Coach of the Year in 2007. Here are five books that made a difference in her life.
1. The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. “This is my all-time favorite book. It is very simple but incredibly profound about what it is to give of oneself.”
2. Left to Tell by Immaculee Ilibagiza. “A book I read to prepare for my trip to Rwanda. An amazing story of survival and forgiveness during the Rwandan holocaust. It left a lasting impression on my life.”
3. The Life You’ve Always Wanted by John Ortberg. “My faith has always been important to me and this book strengthens what I already knew along with making the complex simple. Ortberg’s use of humor and anecdotes makes this book an easy read.”
4. In the Grip of Grace by Max Lucado. “I enjoy several books by this author but this one is my favorite because it talks about the wonderful gift of grace and how all of us are on an equal playing field by the love of God.”
5. The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams. “A classic book from my childhood that I’ve always enjoyed, even to this day.”
