Making a difference, one smile at a time

Before you dive into that Halloween candy, think about this fact: Marquette's School of Dentistry clinics filled nearly 17,000 cavities this year. No matter how you count it, the school's faculty and students provide a critical service at clinic sites throughout the state. Here's a peek at some of the numbers from this past year:

7 clinic sites in Wisconsin, including on campus, in Milwaukee-area community dental clinics, and rural partner clinics in Appleton, Beloit, Eau Claire and Stevens Point

240 pre-doctoral dental students were busy providing dental services, along with 26 dental post-doctoral residents and 3 post-doctoral rural oral health fellows

16,790 cavities filled

967 root canals completed

645 complete dentures made (and another 523 partial dentures)

7,077 cleanings

16,200 toothbrushes given out

We can only imagine the miles of floss used.
