English Program Judged Excellent

Student writers benefit.

The first-year English program has received the highest kind of praise. It was awarded a Writing Program Certificate of Excellence by the Conference on College Composition and Communication.

The committee charged with identifying outstanding writing programs specifically cited Marquette’s program as “exemplary for its integration into its university community, with significant outreach to disciplines across campus; its particular sensitivity to diversity issues and attempt to create a writing program that contributes to social good; and its attempt to base programmatic effectiveness on student writers and writing.”

Only up to 20 writing programs are recognized in this way each year.
