1980-1989

1980

Mary (Mumper) Bakken, H Sci ’80, was named executive vice president and chief operating officer of Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, Ill.

Felix P. Camacho, Bus Ad ’80, was elected to his second term as governor of Guam and sworn into office in January. He is a Republican who was first elected governor in 2002, after serving four terms as a senator in the Guam Legislature.

Thomas A. Fessler, Arts ’80, was named general counsel and vice president of the legal division at VSP, the nation’s largest vision benefits provider. He also serves as a member of the board of directors at Pepperdine University School of Law.

Frances M. Tydingco-Gatewood, Arts ’80, was appointed judge for the U.S. District Court of Guam. Previously she served as an associate justice for Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands.

1981

Dr. Alexander W. Barker, Arts ’81, was named director of the Museum of Art and Archaeology at the University of Missouri. He is conducting a National Science Foundation-sponsored project examining the rise of Bronze-Age hierarchies in western Romania.

Robert H. Duffy, Arts ’81, Law ’84, was recognized as a Wisconsin Super Lawyer for 2006 by Law & Politics magazine.

Julianna Ebert, Law ’81, was recognized as a Wisconsin Super Lawyer for 2006 by Law & Politics magazine.

David D. Wilmoth, Law ’81, was recognized as a Wisconsin Super Lawyer for 2006 by Law & Politics magazine.

Frances R. Wood, Arts ’81, was appointed assistant superintendent of schools in the Highland Park, N.J., school district.

1983

Thomas A. Vergeront, Grad ’83, earned financial planning specialist designation for Smith Barney after completing the firm’s personal financial planning training program.

1984

Capt. Brian E. Luther, Arts ’84, completed the Navy’s nuclear power training program and has assumed duties as the executive officer of the USS Nimitz. He was awarded the Legion of Merit for his performance as assistant budget officer of the Navy.

Christopher J. Zinski, Bus Ad ’84, joined Private Bancorp Inc. as general counsel. Previously, he was an equity partner at Schiff Hardin LLP, leading the financial institution’s practice.

1985

James T. Areddy, Bus Ad ’85, lives and works in Shanghai, China, where he is a journalist working on special assignments for the Wall Street Journal.

Dr. Monica (Dwyer) Hebl, Dent ’85, joined the International College of Dentists. She previously served as a media spokesperson for the Wisconsin Dental Association and earned two WDA Pyramid of Pride awards.

Donald M. MacDonell, Arts ’85, was hired by STS Consultants Ltd. as an associate scientist in the environmental services practice area.

1986

Kathryn (Coates) Buono, Law ’86, was recognized as a Wisconsin Super Lawyer for 2006 by Law & Politics magazine.

Joseph E. Gumina, Bus Ad ’86, joined the law firm Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. in its labor and employment practice.

Michael J. Jaro, Eng ’86, accepted the position of vice president and chief intellectual property counsel at Medtronic Inc. With the company since 1993, he previously held the position of chief patent counsel for the vascular business.

1987 Reunion Year

Anthony D. Dalesandro, Sp ’87, directed tennis superstar Maria Sharapova in a five-minute branded entertainment film for Motorola. He also directed a series of commercials for the Vivendi-Universal video game franchise Flatout 2 that aired during the holiday season.

Mary Beth (Beehner) Osnes, Arts ’87, is co-founder of Mothers Acting Up, a movement of mothers publicly and passionately advocating for the world’s children. MAU recently produced a weekly engagement calendar which serves as a handbook for the movement.

1988

L. Richard Alevizos, Sp ’88, published the book The Border: Immigration and the B.O.P.

Lisa (Johnson) Dalesandro, Sp ’88, adapted the novel Gender Blender by Blake Nelson into a screenplay for Nickelodeon Films. She also wrote the half-hour comedy pilot Unmanageable for VH1 television.

Edward F. Devine, Law ’88, was named executive director of the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission.

Dr. Thomas J. Kraklow, Dent ’88, was accepted into the American College of Dentists.

Jodi H. Schoenauer, Sp ’88, joined Greenspring Media in the Luxury Home Tour division handling the Phoenix, Seattle, Tampa and Milwaukee markets. She volunteered in March 2006 at a medical mission in Peru with Smile Network International.

1989

Daniel W. Lagiovane, Comm ’89, was hired by the Children’s Institute, Pittsburgh, as manager of marketing and communications. He was previously the assistant director of marketing/media relations at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.
