Law School’s addition

Journalist helps build hub of public policy discourse

Mike GoushaThe Law School appointed Milwaukee broadcast journalist Mike Gousha a distinguished fellow in law and public policy. He will help position the Law School as “the place for solution-oriented conferences and forums.”

The veteran news anchor interviewed many big names as host of the Emmy Award-winning program, Sunday Night with Mike Gousha. He has moderated political debates and discussions, including two major face-offs in 2004: A senatorial debate between incumbent Sen. Russ Feingold and challenger Tim Michels, and a national debate of Democratic presidential candidates that was held at Marquette.

Gousha will frequently offer his expertise as an interviewer, moderator or facilitator. “The goal is to make Marquette and the Law School a recognized leader in substantive discussion of important public policy issues,” Gousha says.

Dean Joseph D. Kearney says the hire signals the Law School’s emerging presence as a hub of public discourse. “Not just locally but around the nation there is a great deal of respect for Mike and the work that he does,” Kearney says. “Mike will have the flexibility to take on projects that include writing, interviews and documentaries, as well as the preparation of conferences and workshops that address serious topics in our society. His work will engage our students, faculty and the community in inquiry into and discussion of those issues.”
