1943

Ethel M. Gintoft, Jour ’43, was awarded the Woman of Faith Award by the Sisters of the Divine Savior for her leadership in Catholic journalism, contributions to the Catholic press, and for being an advocate for justice and peace.

1947

Col. Donald O’Neil, Law ’47, of San Antonio; Col. Darrell Peck, Law ’54, of Massanutten, Va.; and Col. Tom Strassburg, Law ’69, of Charlottesville, Va., attended the retired Army judge advocate annual reunion in May in Columbus, Ga. The three graduates are retired JAG officers.

James B. Strenski, Jour ’52, was elected to a second one-year term as chairman of the Florida Orchestra, Tampa Bay’s largest cultural arts organization

1953

Drs. Donald R. Bentz, Dent ’53, and Jane (Bentz) Matelski, Dent ’77, played in the U.S. Tennis Association National Father/Daughter, Senior Father/Daughter, Super Senior Father/Daughter and Mother/Son Hard Court Championships in San Diego. The father-daughter team took third place in the super senior category and brought a bronze tennis ball home to LaCrosse, Wis.

William L. Goetz, Eng ’53, had a vessel named in his honor at a christening ceremony of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

1954

Sister M. Edmunette Paczesny, Ph.D., Arts ’55, recently celebrated her 50th year with the Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph.
