Father Wild stars in 30-second commercial

Under a sunny fall sky, Marquette President Robert Wild, S.J., smiles, then the camera’s focus moves away from him to pan out over Central Mall. The director calls “cut,” and the first scene of a television commercial about Marquette is in the can.
The 30-second spot shows the academic heart of Marquette and shares a message about its educational mission as “a shining example of Catholic, Jesuit education — a place where lives are changed, new knowledge discovered, and where students, faculty and alumni make an impact in their own communities and the world over.”
The commercial is part of an advertising campaign that was unveiled this past fall. Another component is a series of print ads, each written to share how one member of the Marquette family is finding his or her own way to be the difference here on campus and in their professions. The print ads feature Father Wild; Jeff Joerres, Bus Ad ’83; Chalie Nevarez, a student from Puerto Rico; Dr. Kristy Nielson, associate professor of psychology; Christine Schindler, a nursing graduate student; and Dwyane Wade, former student in the J. William and Mary Diederich College of Communication.
The commercial is being shown in southeastern Wisconsin. It will air on CBS when Marquette plays Pittsburgh on Jan. 21, in various regional broadcasts, and is shown during men’s basketball games at the Bradley Center. Look for the ads and a cut of the commercial on the Marquette Be The Difference Web site.
