1954
Joseph P. Ritz, Jour ’54, published his play God’s Minstrel about the life of St. Francis. It is his second published play. Trappists, staged in New York and other cities, appears in the anthology Award-winning Plays from the Stage and Screen Book Club. He also is the author of two books and spent 40 years as a journalist. In 2002 he received the Byline Award from Marquette University’s College of Communication.
1955
Frank W. Grant, Bus Ad ’55, was named to the board of Hope for the Warriors, a civilian organization committed to enhancing the quality of life for U.S. service members and their families nationwide who have been adversely affected by injuries or death in the line of duty. He is a retired FBI agent.
1956
Rose Marie (Goetz) Aus, Arts ’56, received a 2007 Montana Governor’s Humanities Award for being one of the most effective advocates of the humanities in eastern Montana. She has been a member of the English and humanities faculty at Dawson College in Glendive, Mont., for more than 25 years and was a member of the state committee for the humanities.

Gerald R. Hopfensperger, Arts ’57, competed in the 2007 National Senior Games basketball tournament in Louisville, Ky., representing Wisconsin in competition for players ages 70 and over.

Susan (Grellinger) Arisman, Ph.D., Jour ’59, was named interim dean at Coppin State University’s School of Education in Baltimore.
