1970-1979

1970

Diann (Herzogenrath) Bomkamp, Dent Hy ’70, was named president-elect of the Chicago-based American Dental Hygienists Association. She previously served as a delegate and alternate delegate, District VIII trustee, chair of the council on regulation and practice and, most recently, as vice president of ADHA. She also served on the Future of Dental Hygiene Licensure/Regulation Subcommittee.

Robert W. Laur, Sp ’70, appeared as Officer Bannion in Ray Bradbury’s Falling Upward. He is also performing in Betty Garrett’s new musical Betty Garrett, Closet Songwriter. Both shows were staged at Theatre West, an internationally acclaimed nonprofit arts organization in Hollywood, Calif.

Mark L. Neilsen, Arts ’70, was appointed editor of Living Faith by Creative Communications. It is the publisher’s major periodical and most widely read, daily Catholic devotional publication.

1971

Michael F. Grimaldi, Jour ’71, was appointed to a three-year term on the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph School Board. He is director of issues management for Corporate Communications Group Inc., a public relations firm based in Overland Park, Kan. He and his wife, Carol, reside in Kansas City, Mo.

Dr. Gary A. Macy, Arts ’71, Grad ’73, was appointed John Nobili, S.J., Professor of Theology in the department of religious studies at Santa Clara University. His latest book, The Hidden History of Women’s Ordination (Oxford University Press), is now available.

1972

Frederick J. Kapala, Arts ’72, was sworn in as a U.S. district judge for the Western Division of the Northern District of Illinois. He previously served as a justice for the Illinois Appellate Court.

1974

Lansen C. Barrow, Bus Ad ’74, serves as chief counsel for the New Orleans office of the U.S. Department of Energy.

Harry M. Byrne, Jr., Arts ’74, was named one of the top attorneys in Pennsylvania in a recent edition of Philadelphia Magazine. He is a past chair of the family law section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

Moira J. Kelly, Jour ’74, Grad ’00, received a master’s degree in dispute resolution from Marquette University and owns a dispute resolution consulting firm in New Berlin, Wis. She is also an adjunct assistant professor of law at Marquette Law School.

1976

Edward H. Lundquist, Jour ’76, was appointed chair-elect for the accreditation council of the International Association of Business Communicators.

Ricky J. Paiva, Sp ’76, was named vice president of creative services at ESPN. He oversees creative applications for ESPN and ABC Sports.

1977

Robert L. Gegios, Arts ’77, was elected president of the Wisconsin Bar Association Eastern District. He is an authority on cutting-edge topics, such as electronic discovery and the impact of cultural differences on business and dispute resolution. He co-authored an internationally circulated paper “Cross Cultural Understanding: An Essential Skill in International Advocacy.” He is a shareholder in the Milwaukee law firm of Kohner, Mann & Kailas; president-elect and a master in the Thomas E. Fairchild Chapter of the American Inns of Court; a fellow of the American Bar Foundation; and a leading member of the ABA Section of Business Law. He also is a featured commentator in the Sky Radio Network’s America's Best Lawyers Show.

Randy S. Nelson, Law ’77, is named in the 2007 edition of Who’s Who in American Law, the 10th time he has earned the honor. He practices law at Weiss Berzowski Brady LLP in Milwaukee.

1978

Reunion Year

Mary (Meier) Hills, Bus Ad ’78, was named director of marketing for the accreditation council of the International Association of Business Communicators.

Dennis M. Pollard, PT ’78, was named chief operating officer for Froedtert & Community Health, responsible for leading the system planning process and overseeing support functions and implementation of specific physician-relation initiatives.

Frances A. Richards, Sp ’78, was a guest speaker at the first Women of Color Conference, held in Las Vegas. She is president and CEO of Arlean & Company LLC.

Roy E. Wagner, Law ’78, was named chairperson-elect of the construction and public contract law section of the Wisconsin State Bar. In addition, he chairs the construction law and litigation section at von Briesen & Roper SC in Milwaukee.

1979

Joel J. Kaczmarek, Sp ’79, was invited by Marquette to address University Advancement during the division’s quarterly training. He is a sales training and professional development consultant with the Sandler Sales Institute in Greensboro, N.C.

James K. Muehlbauer, Law ’79, was appointed a Washington County judge by Wis. Gov. Jim Doyle. He works for Schloemer, Alderson, Spella, Muehlbauer & Enea SC and belongs to the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers.
