1990

Michael J. Badar, Bus Ad ’90, was named president and chief operating officer of Dunn-Edwards Corp. in Los Angeles. The corporation is the leading manufacturer of premium architectural paints in the Southwest.

Tracy (Peplinksi) Johnson, Comm ’90, was named executive director of TEMPO, a Milwaukee-area professional women’s group that focuses on relationship building, mentoring, educational programs and networking opportunities while empowering women to achieve and sustain leadership roles within the educational, political and corporate arenas.

Maria D. Kasonda, Arts ’90, published the book A Race Diminished.

1991

Patrick J. Grace, Arts ’91, was named executive director of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland Foundation by the board of directors and Cleveland Bishop Richard Lennon.

Richard M. McDermott, Eng ’91, Law ’94, was honored by the Charlotte Business Journal as a “40 Under 40” award winner. Candidates were judged on their business leadership roles and voluntary efforts committed to improving their communities. He is a partner in the intellectual property litigation group of Alston & Bird LLP in Charlotte, N.C., and concentrates on complex intellectual property litigation, including patent, trademark, copyright and other technology disputes.

1992

Jason F. Abraham, Law ’92, was accepted as a member of the Multi-million Dollar Advocates Fund. To be accepted, attorneys must act as principal counsel in at least one case that results in a multi-million dollar verdict, award or settlement. He is a partner at Hupy and Abraham SC of Milwaukee.

Joel T. Brennan, Arts ’92, was named president and chief executive officer of Discovery World in Milwaukee. Most recently, he led the Milwaukee Redevelopment Authority and directed major economic development projects for the city and Mayor Tom Barrett. He joined Discovery World in October 2007.

John R. Rupert, Eng ’92, Grad ’00, is engineering manager of software and automation at Bucyrus International Inc. in Milwaukee. He is responsible for a team of engineers developing machine control and display software for the company’s products.

Kristin (Kaplan) Wolfe, Law ’92, was appointed head of alcohol policy for one of the world’s largest brewers, SABMiller plc. She worked with the Miller Brewing Co. for 16 years, most recently as assistant general counsel in charge of the company’s alcohol responsibility programs.

1993

Reunion Year

Matthew S. Slater, Bus Ad ’93, completed his first year at Southwestern Law School. Previously he was an executive in Major League Baseball as well as a scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

1994

Laura (Wake) Bray, Comm ’94, Grad ’03, was awarded the 2007 Robert B. Bell, Sr., Best Public Partner Award. It is given annually by the Bell Real Estate Chair at Marquette University and the Small Business Times to an individual who is an advocate for commercial real estate development in southeastern Wisconsin. She is the executive director of Menomonee Valley Partners Inc. in Milwaukee.

Lt. Cmdr. Brian Hamling, USN, Eng ’94, returned home in May from a six-month deployment to Qatar and Iraq with Patrol Squadron Eight in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a pilot who flies the P3-C Orion and is the squadron’s maintenance officer.

1995

Dashal M. Young, Comm ’95, Grad ’97, was named community outreach and recruitment specialist for the Milwaukee County Division of Human Resources. His position focuses on employee recruitment and on building a pipeline relationship with educational institutions.

1996

Michelle T. Sobarnia, Comm ’96, was named a director on the J. William and Mary Diederich College of Communication Alumni Association Board at Marquette. She is an account executive at Zizzo Group Advertising & Public Relations in Milwaukee.

1997

Thomas H. Hutchison, Grad ’97, was promoted to professor of Christian education at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio.

1998

Reunion Year

Ryan D. McAlvey, Arts ’98, was named assistant director of athletic compliance at St. John’s University in Queens, N.Y.
