Services Provided
Mail Services works each day to provide vital university services. While many mail services are free, all U.S. Postal Service (USPS), United Parcel Service (UPS) and vendor postage expenses are charged to departments.
Specific services include:
- Sorting and delivering Postal Service and campus mail to departments and offices
- Collect all mail from departments and offices and strategically placed mailboxes
- Special pick-ups of unusually large or urgent campus and outgoing mailings
- Metering and applying accurate postage to all Postal Service mail
- Handling express, registered, certified, insured and delivery confirmation mail services
- Preparing and affixing accurate package labels to all UPS parcel shipments
- Special-service mail and package tracking
- Collecting, weighing, recording and preparing air waybills for international letters and packages shipped via FedEx Worldwide.
- Sorting, traying, strapping and prepping mailing statements for all Permit 628 bulk mailings processed directly by Mail Services
- Authorizing permit mailing forms for commercial mailers
- Providing essential postal products and forms (such as express and priority mail envelopes; campus mail envelopes; UPS Next Day and 2nd Day Air Letter envelopes; and, USPS Certified, Registered, Insured, Customs, and Signature/Delivery Confirmation Receipts)
- Monitoring and maintaining first-class meter, stamp and permit accounts
- Preparing account summary and postage charge-back reports
- Providing a listing of charges to departments and offices for the following services at their request: labeling, ZIP code sorting, folding and bundling and so on.
