Mission Week 2009
The theme for Mission Week 2009 is,
iAct:Consequences of Faith.

We are honored to announce Dr. Shirin Ebadi as the keynote speaker for this year's Mission Week.
Dr. Shirin Ebadi is the first Iranian and first Muslim woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize (2003). As the first female judge in Iran, Ebadi was stripped of her basic rights by religious revolutionaries, whom she once supported, who declared women unfit to serve as judges. Undaunted, she persevered as a human rights lawyer, defending women and children in controversial, politically charged cases. Though she has been arrested and the target of assassination attempts, she has courageously continued to speak out on behalf of victims of injustice and discrimination. Defying government obstacles, Dr. Ebadi created one of the first independent, nongovernmental human rights organizations in Iran: The Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child and her influence extends far beyond the borders of her country. Her 2006 book, Iran Awakening: One Woman's Journey to Reclaim Her Life and Country, is a testament to her commitment to human rights as a consequence of faith.
Provisional Schedule will be posted shortly.
