Note: For detailed information about your financial aid award, please see the Award Information Guide.

The first step in receiving financial aid is Applying for Aid. The aid process doesn't end there, however. Read below to follow any steps you may need to do to Accept your Aid.

Step 1Plan ahead!
Take advantage of the Expense Worksheet (page 5 of the Award Information Guide) to calculate the direct cost of attending Marquette University while taking into account your financial aid award and all resources available to you to meet your college expenses.

Annual Expense Worksheet

Step 2Login to CheckMarq
After receiving your financial aid notification, log into CheckMarq.

Click on the “Accept/Decline my Financial Aid” link under the Financial Aid Quick Link on the CheckMarq homepage.

          1. Scholarships/grants are automatically accepted for you
          2. The Federal Subsidized/Unsubsidized Stafford Loans and Marquette Institutional Loans can be accepted in CheckMarq.
          3. The Optional Loan cannot be accepted in CheckMarq.  If needed, complete a Plus Loan request form, or look for a student alternative loan lender.
          4. Any aid accepted will be evenly split between fall/spring

Step 3

Watch your email!
After accepting your aid in CheckMarq, you will be notified by email if you need to complete entrance counseling and/or complete an electronic master promissory note.  Aid will disburse to your bursar account once the necessary steps have been completed.
