The United States Congress recently mandated that private loan lenders require borrowers to complete an Applicant Self-Certification form when requesting any private educational loans. Do not submit your self-certification form to this office as Marquette cannot complete this form for you.

The following sections of the form must be completed from your financial aid information on CheckMarq. If you have not been awarded, please contact the Office of Student Financial Aid.

How can you find this information?

Access CheckMarq at: https://checkmarq.mu.edu

Find and Click “Student Center” in the right hand side of screen

1. Click on “View Financial Aid” in the center of screen
2. Click the correct Aid Year in the left column. E.g., for the 2013-2014 academic year, click on "2014".
3. Click on “Private Loan Certification” in the center of screen
4. Select the loan period.  ex. Academic Year  and click
5. Fill in the form with the information shown on that page:
   • Line A : Student's cost of attendance for the period of enrollment covered by the loan
   • Line B: Estimated financial assistance
   • Line C: Difference between amounts A and B
   • Period of Enrollment Covered by the Loan:  From  __/__/____  to __/__/____ in section 3
6. Sign the form and send to your lender. Always check to see if you can E-Sign this form on your lender’s web site.
