Cameos of Caring is a formal awards program which honors exceptional bedside nurses who work in acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, ambulatory settings, home care or community health. The goals of Cameos of Caring program are:
Honor outstanding nurses for their dedication to quality patient care.
Increase public awareness of the nursing profession by highlighting its career rewards.
Inspire nurses to increase their positive impact on patient care and to continue to advance their careers in a variety of ways.
Recruit a new generation of nurses to help offset the current nursing shortage.
Support education of nurses from partnering organizations.
The Cameos of Caring program serves to highlight nurses who have demonstrated excellence in nursing care, served as an advocate for patients and families, and exemplifies the spirit of the nursing profession. It is an important way to honor outstanding nurses and increase the visibility of their contributions to health care. It also plays a vital role in the recruitment and retention of excellent nurses at a time when they are desperately needed, and will help provide financial support to nurses who are continuing their education. Local and area hospitals and health care systems are invited to partner with the university to celebrate their finest.
