Financial Aid for International Students
Most of the financial aid for United States students to attend Marquette comes from United States government and Wisconsin government funds. Each year the state and federal governments provide the money or the financial guarantees for more than $55 million to enable students to attend Marquette. However, government regulations do not allow the university to grant those funds to visa students.
What Financial Aid Is Available?
Scholarships
Marquette University uses its own resources to provide scholarships for qualified international students. For more information and a list of all the scholarships available to international students, visit our:
International Students Scholarship Page.
Campus Employment
International students can choose to find employment on the Marquette campus. Although most employment is not considered financial aid, it is sometimes an important part of a student's financial situation. F-1 visa students are eligible to work on-campus for up to 20 hours per week when school is in session and up to 40 hours per week during school vacations. However, on-campus employment cannot be assured in advance and is not considered part of a student's official financial support.
Off-Campus Employment
F-1 visa students are also eligible for other kinds of employment if certain conditions are met. Practical training employment in a student's field of study is possible in some cases such as the Engineering Co-op Program. Other students may apply for practical training employment permission upon completion of their studies. Jobs and authorizations cannot be assured in advance.
