The center aims to provide a dynamic, rigorous educational experience for Marquette students and others from around the country, and to make a genuine, direct contribution to our nation’s ongoing experiment in representative democracy. Through conferences, symposia, publications and the direct participation of its students, the center provides a unique laboratory for policy examination and the promotion of democratic values by examining how public policy emerges in a modern democratic society and how individual citizens can make themselves heard. Above all, the center seeks to prepare young people to serve the public effectively and ethically, and to counter the growing cynicism toward the processes of representative government.

Entrepreneurship at Marquette University encompasses an undergraduate major and minor in the College of Business Administration, a program in social entrepreneurship, a graduate certificate in entrepreneurship, classes in the MBA and EMBA programs, student project experiences both locally and globally, and close ties Marquette's angel investor network who provide their experience and mentorship. An incubator space is available on campus for startups. The Kohler Center also hosts major events each year open to the campus and community, including Entrepreneurship Week in the fall, and the Business Plan Competition in spring.

The center promotes the exchange of ideas among Marquette neuroscience research faculty members, thereby increasing opportunities for collaborative research and acquisition of resources. The INRC includes more than 30 faculty members in multiple disciplines. The center sponsors a bi-monthly seminar series, an annual Brain Awareness Week and a summer Neuroanatomical Dissection course which draws practitioners and educators from psychology, medicine, neuroscience, physiology, physical and occupational therapy, rehabilitation engineering, and anatomy from across the country.

The center, housed in the College of Business Administration, fosters research in predatory lending, credit availability, the effects of tax incremental financing districts and the determinants of retail sales and rents in planned shopping centers, among other topics. Additionally, the CRE focuses on the under graduate experience through the Real Estate Club, site visits, job shadowing and mentoring and applied classroom assignments. It also features the Associates in Commercial Real Estate (ACRE) program, which educates, trains and prepares minorities for careers in commercial real estate throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

The Transportation Research Center was established to conduct research, perform testing and provide training in the areas of highway maintenance and operations, traffic engineering, highway pavements, materials, and construction. Research is conducted in the following areas: traffic engineering, traffic control devices, traffic safety, highway snow and ice control, highway design, highway materials, highway pavements, concrete and asphalt technology, highway structures, nondestructive pavement testing and pavement drainage systems. Material testing is available for most highway materials, including asphalt, concrete, steel, wood and aggregates.

The mission of the center is to encourage and enhance collaboration between faculty and student researchers involved in intelligent systems, controls and signal processing in the College of Engineering and industry for the purpose of sharing knowledge, working on research problems of common interest, and researching, developing and implementing modern technologies. Activities include: GasDay™, used to predict almost 20 percent of the country’s natural gas consumption; system identification and control using artificial neural networks with applications to electric machines; development of a speech-processing database for Hughes Network Systems; and an industrial short course on adaptive controls for Eaton Corporation.

The center provides a focal point for addressing the increasing importance of global and economic issues. Activities include a distinguished speaker series on global and economic affairs, public discussions, lectures, and publications on contemporary economic issues. The center’s activities promote faculty research in economics and further the close relationship between the university and the Milwaukee-area business community. The center also helps identify internships for graduate and undergraduate students with local firms that are engaged in international business.

The Center for Peacemaking, established in 2007, has four primary goals: Support research on the effectiveness of initiatives to prevent violent conflicts and to reconcile communities in the wake of violence; assist in teaching skills for nonviolent conflict resolution and management; locate the practice of nonviolence within the faith development of the community; and identify and expand the resources within the Marquette community to enable its members to take leadership roles in nonviolent peacemaking.

The primary clientele of the center are Marquette faculty and graduate students who intend to have careers in higher education. The center strives to improve teaching and learning by means of both traditional understandings, such as those developed in more than 450 years of Jesuit pedagogy, and more recent insights that come from the cognitive sciences and new electronic technologies.

The center, administratively housed at Marquette University, is a formal consortium of academic and health care organizations including: Marquette, the University of Wisconsin at Madison, the University of Wisconsin Medical School, UW–Superior, UW–La Crosse, UW Extension, Marshfield Clinic, Aurora Health Care and the Medical College of Wisconsin. The center was formed in 1986 for the purpose of creating educational programs and products in geriatrics targeted to health professionals, faculty, practitioners and students in Wisconsin. It is one of 41 geriatric education centers in the United States funded by the federal Department of Health and Human Services and is the only organization in Wisconsin dedicated to providing statewide, geriatric educational programs for health professionals.
