Applying the Marquette Brand in Print

Grid Specifications

The grid provides structure for the creative platform. It makes it possible to design for a variety of media while maintaining the continuity of the Marquette creative platform. As such, it can be applied to everything from brochures to billboards to Web sites.

The grid is a flexible network of squares. The type of grid used depends on the format of the piece being designed. Common grids used in the Marquette creative platform include two, four and six column grids.

Legend

A. The length and width of the grid square are determined by where the grid is being used, the size of the placement and aesthetic. The designer should always use full squares across the width of the piece, with no obvious partial squares or gaps (excludes margins).

B. The gap between the grid squares is 0.025 inches (2 points).

C. The gap between the grid and the edge of the piece may vary depending on application. Some pieces will have large margins while others may bleed.

D. The typography of the piece does not need to follow the grid. The grid is used more as a method of arranging images to create movement and interest.

E. The support imagery adheres to the grid squares.
