Move-In Day

We’ve been busy making last minute preparations so that all will go well we would like to ask for your help in making sure the process goes smoothly.

As you know, almost 4,000 students will make the residence halls their home this year. In the past this has led to major delays as the majority of residents have arrived early in the morning in an effort to get into their rooms as soon as possible. The lines were long and we didn’t have enough move-in carts for everyone who wanted one. We did notice that after the initial morning rush students had little to no wait and were more likely to be able to get a cart.

With this in mind we have set up the following arrival schedule for freshman/tranfer move-in on Wednesday and returning student move-in on Friday/Saturday:

Curb space will be limited so you will not be able to leave your car unattended while you unload. You will be able to pull over near the entrance to the building and will be asked to unload on the curb and immediately move your vehicle to university parking. To help Public Safety better direct you, please print your building name and room number on an 8 ½ by 11 sheet of paper and place it on the dash on the passenger side of your vehicle.

Our plan is to give priority for carts and use of the elevators to the residents of the designated floors during each of the above time blocks. This should help you move more quickly through the check-in process where you provide all of the information necessary to receive your keys. You are welcome to arrive later in the day but may find it easier if you arrive according to the schedule. We believe that this will help make your move to campus less hectic and will allow you to be more relaxed as you make the transition from home to campus.
