Lil' Sibs Weekend FAQ

Q: What exactly is Lil’ Sibs Weekend?
A: Lil’ Sibs Weekend is an opportunity for siblings, cousins, or family friends of current Marquette students to come to campus to share in the Marquette experience and to see the city of Milwaukee. 

Activities and events will be sponsored throughout the weekend by the Residence Hall Association (RHA), Hall and Apartment Councils, the Marquette Student Government (MUSG), Late Night Marquette, and other organizations on campus.

Q: When is it?
A Lil’ Sibs Weekend will be held the weekend of Friday, April 11th, through Sunday, April 13th. Check-in and day-of registration for the event will take place from on Friday, April 11th, in the Alumni Memorial Union (AMU).

(The AMU is located at 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave. Parking is available in Structure 1, located on 749 N. 16th St., or Structure 2, located on 1249 W. Wells St.
*Please note that a fee may be required to park in the Marquette parking structures.*)

Q: Are there any limits as to who can come?
A: Lil’ Sibs events are geared toward children five years of age and older. We extend the offer to participate in Lil’ Sibs Weekend to all relatives or family friends of current Marquette students; exceptions to this rule will be made on a case-by-case basis. Up to two guests are allowed to stay overnight in the residence halls with each Marquette student.  (While in the past up to three guests were allowed to stay with each Marquette student in accordance to Marquette policy the number has been brought down to two. Any questions or concerns about this guest limitation can be brought to Sarah Olejniczak at sarah.olejniczak@marquette.edu.)

Q: How do I register a sibling or a friend?
A: The registration form for Lil’ Sibs weekend is COMING SOON!

After registering, you MUST print and sign the liability waiver for each sibling or guest attending.  The waivers can be found on the Lil' Sibs event page located at http://www.marquette.edu/orl/rha/lilsibs.shtml. Once the waivers are completed, please send them to the Residence Hall Association. You can return waivers in one of three ways.

Day-of registration will also be available on April 19th in the Alumni Memorial Union.

Q: Is there a cost?
A: Lil’ Sibs Weekend participation costs $35.00 for each guest attending. The registration fee includes

  • dinner on Friday
  • breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday, and
  • brunch on Sunday

The registration fee also includes an event T-shirt for the Lil’ Sibs guests, costs associated with activities, and other miscellaneous fees.

Please note: Marquette students can purchase t-shirt(s) for an additional $10 fee; shirts for Marquette students hosts are not included in the in the cost of the weekend.

Q: What if I have a question about registration or need assistance with registering?
A: If you have any question or concerns, please contact the RHA office by email at siblingsweekend@marquette.edu or phone at 414-288-5851.

Q: Will I be able to register on Friday, April 11th?
A: Yes! Lil’ Sibs participants will be able to register the day-of at check-in at the AMU on Friday, April 11th, from 4pm to 7pm. Please note that each Lil’ Sibs participant will need a waiver signed by a parent or guardian in the weekend’s activities. If parents or guardian are not present at check-in to register, the waiver for participants is available for print on the RHA webpage and should be brought to check-in by the Lil’ Sibs participant and Marquette student.

Q: Can I register for specific events ahead of time?
A: Specific events cannot be registered for ahead of time.  All activities are listed on the Lil’ Sibs website; some activities are open to all, and others are available only on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Q: Where do I CHECK IN on Friday, April 11th?
A: Check-in will occur on April 11th in Alumni Memorial Union (AMU), in Marquette Place. All Lil’ Sibs participants must check in to receive a registration packet with a visitation wristband, materials about the weekend, and meal tickets.

On-site registration ends at 7pm; siblings arriving after this time who have not pre-registered will not have the opportunity to register. If pre-registered and arriving after 7pm check-in at the Marquette student’s residence hall is available starting at 8pm.

Q: Can I check in my Lil’ Sib(s) if they have not arrived yet?
A: The Lil’ Sibs participants must be present to be checked-in.

If pre-registered Lil’ Sibs participants arrive after the check-in time at the AMU, their packet will be located at the Marquette student’s residence hall beginning at 8pm. For Marquette students living in the apartments, the registration packets for Lil’ Sibs participants will be available at the Information desk on the 2nd floor in the AMU beginning at 8 PM.

Q: What if my child arrives later than 7:00pm on Friday?
A: If the *pre-registered* Lil’ Sibs participant arrives after check-in has ended at the AMU, the Lil’ Sibs participant registration packets will be available at the front desk of the Marquette student’s residence hall beginning at 8 PM on April 11th.
For Marquette students living in the apartments, the registration packets for Lil’ Sibs participants will be available at the Information desk on the 2nd floor in the AMU beginning at 8 PM.

Q: Where do I park?
A: You may park in Structure 1, located on 749 N. 16th St. or Structure 2, located on 1249 W. Wells St.  *Please note that a fee might be required to park in the Marquette parking structures.*

Q: Where will the siblings attending the events stay?
A: Lil’s Sibs participants stay with their Marquette relative or sponsor in the residence halls.  Roommate approval is necessary for siblings to stay in the residence halls. We ask Marquette students to be sensitive to their roommate when hosting a Lil’ Sibs participant of the opposite sex. All siblings are subject to the overnight guest policy as administered by the Office of Residence Life. In single-gender halls we will designate opposite gender bathrooms for the duration of the weekend.
