The Resident Assistant (RA) position is a premiere leadership position within the Office of Residence Life. The main function of the RA is to build relationships with residents in an effort to provide individualized support, campus resource information, and academic encouragement. The goal of the RA is to ensure that Marquette feels like home for residential students by building community within their respective wing or floor.

The ideal RA candidate is a current student who has community living experience, a minimum 2.50 GPA, and a desire to make an impact on the lives of his/her peers. Quality candidates will have a commitment to personal integrity, serving members of their peer group, and engaging in personal development.

We currently are not hiring any Resident Assistants for this academic year (2015-2016). We encourage you to submit an application for next year.

RA Selection for Academic Year 2016-2017

The Office of Residence Life is currently seeking qualified applicants for the Resident Assistant position for the 2016-2017 academic year. Applicants must have 2 semesters of community living experience, have a minimum 2.50 GPA, and be in good standing with the university.


Interested applicants must attend a Resident Assistant information session to learn more about the position requirements and details about the application process. Attendance at one of the information sessions is required in order for an application to be considered.

Info Sessions hosted in a residence hall are open to ALL students. If you do not live in that hall, simply check in with the Desk Receptionist with your MUID at the time of the session.

Applications and completed reference forms are due by January 19, 2016. Below is information from last year's process.

  • Complete an application via MU Career Manager (MUCM). To find the position, you can search for "Resident Assistant" or access the application here.
    • Upload a resume to MUCM specific to the RA position - highlight your leadership experiences and past jobs.
    • Upload your essay responses. Use our template here.
  • Update your MUCM profile to ensure all demographic and address information is accurate.
  • Submit one reference with either:
    • Current RA Reference - to be completed by a current or recent RA. Form is available for current RAs via MU Involvement Link here.
    • Non-RA Reference. The form is a PDF that can be submitted to the Office of Residence Life or via email to Form is available here.
    • Your submitted reference will not appear on MU Career Manager. We will contact you if we are mising a reference.

Interview Process

There are five components to the interview process:

1. Attend a mandatory information session (see above).

2. Submit an application (Due January 19, 2016 by 11:59pm).

3. Attend the optional Meet & Greet to have a chance to meet all of the hall directors and learn more about each residence hall (January 27th, 2016)

4. Participate in an individual interview that you sign up for on MU Career Manager (January 28th OR January 29th, 2016).

5. Attend the Group Process interview that you sign up for on MU Career Manager (February 5th OR February 6th, 2016).
