CIES annually recruits and sends nearly 1,100 U.S. faculty and professionals to 125 countries on its traditional program and brings 900 foreign faculty and professionals to the U.S. The organization has also recently launched a new Fulbright program:

The Fulbright Regional Network for Applied Research (NEXUS) Program continues the aims of the New Century Scholars Program, but focused on a regional level. The NEXUS Program will bring together a network of up to 20 junior scholars, professionals and mid-career applied researchers from the United States and other Western Hemisphere nations for a series of three seminar meetings and a Fulbright exchange experience. The seminars will provide a platform for collaborative thinking, analysis, problem-solving and multi-disciplinary research in one of three inter-related topics: 1) Science, Technology and Innovation, 2) Entrepreneurship, and 3) Sustainable Energy.

 In addition, CIES administers:

• the Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Program is one of the most prestigious appointments in the Fulbright Scholar Program, offering awards to approximately 40 distinguished U.S. faculty and professionals to lecture and/or conduct research;
• the Fulbright International Educational Administrators Seminar Program, which sends U.S. administrators to France, Germany, India, Japan or Korea for two-week seminars to create empowering connections with the societal, cultural and higher education systems of the participating countries. The program also brings administrators from India and Korea to the U.S. for similar seminars; and
• the Fulbright German Studies Seminar, which sends U.S. academics and professionals to Germany to participate in a two-week summer seminar on current German society and culture
• the Senior Specialists Program, which offers short-term grants (two to six weeks) to go abroad and engage in collaborative projects—such as teacher training, curriculum planning, conducting seminars, or special conferences/workshops—that strengthen and support the development needs of host institutions.

Each spring, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs hosts a Fulbright Brown Bag lunch.  During these sessions, a panel of 3-4 Marquette Fulbright alumni share their Fulbright experiences from application to award completion and answer questions from those in attendance.
