Are you interested in getting involved with service?
Sign up for Urban Connection!
WHY? Marquette University has a strong tradition of service with the community, and Urban connection is a great way to learn about service at Marquette. You will make a difference in your new community and meet many of your new classmates.
WHAT? Teams of students will explore Milwaukee and engage in various community service projects at one of thirty local nonprofits! Your team might work in a community garden, serve meals to our neighbors in need, staff a community recycling event, or sort donated children’s books – just to name a few. If you have limitations, let us know and we can find the right site for you.
WHO? Volunteers will be matched with a team of new students and accompanied by an Orientation Staff member. Orientation staff members are assigned to each group to serve as team leaders. Teams may walk, take public bus or be provided Marquette transportation, pending location of sites, size of groups and tool needs.
WHEN? The morning of Saturday August 27th, 2016. Volunteers will arrive back on campus in time to participate in most excursions.
Registration for Urban Connection opens July 14th.
Interfaith Team: Marquette is part of a nation-wide initiative for interfaith community service. Interfaith service involves people from different religious and non-religious backgrounds tackling community challenges together. This is an important way to build understanding between different communities and contribute to the common good.If you join this special team, we hope that you will share your faith with your teammates and also be open to hearing the perspectives of others.
