Mission Week 2012: Who is my neighbor?
The Marquette community will reflect on our university's Catholic, Jesuit identity during Mission Week, Feb. 19-25. This year's theme, "Who is my neighbor?," will encourage the campus community to reflect on who our neighbors are locally, nationally and internationally, and to examine how we can create international networks to address issues of faith, justice and ecology.
The week begins with a Mass at the Church of the Gesu celebrated by Father Doug Leonhardt, S.J., with the homily by Marquette President Scott R. Pilarz, S.J. The keynote address will be given by Dr. Bernard Amadei, founding president of Engineers Without Borders USA and co-founder of Engineers Without Borders — International. His address, Engineering for the Developing World: From Crisis to Development, will be Tuesday, Feb. 21.
Student Affairs launches website regarding sexual misconduct
The Office of Student Affairs launched a new website Monday that provides resources and information for the campus community regarding sexual misconduct.
In an email to students this week, L. Christopher Miller, vice president for student affairs, said, "Reflecting on what makes our campus a tight knit and caring community, I want to remind everyone that we all play a valuable role in preventing acts that violate individuals' basic dignity. To help support that type of community, we have developed a new Web page."
Developed with input from community advocates, staff from the Counseling Center, Student Health Services, Student Development, the Department of Public Safety and faculty, the site provides background on how to identify acts of misconduct, information on resources available to students and tips on how students can support each other.
