Student International Experiences

The Center for Peacemaking provides unique opportunities for Marquette undergraduate students to visit international CRS development sites through the Global Campus partnership.

Prior to the international travel, students participate in required meetings to learn about CRS, the Integral Human Development (IHD) framework, and international peacebuilding. These meetings set the stage for a high-impact educational experience.

While abroad, students see first-hand how CRS projects are implemented using subsidiarity — valuing the input and ability of those closest to problems — to build resilient communities. Students are transformed as they learn how community members and CRS staff collaborate on systemic and grassroots efforts to uphold human dignity and improve the quality of life.

India

In January 2017 the first group of Marquette students completed a study abroad trip to India in which they visited CRS development sites and studied faith-based development. Students received academic credit for completing the trip for a course titled "Faith and the Role of Nonviolence: Religious Peacebuilding in India."
