Daniel Pinto received a dual degree B.S. in Health Sciences and M.S. in Physical Therapy from Touro College (2002), completed orthopedic physical therapy residency training at the University of Wisconsin (2004), a transitional DPT (2007) and Fellowship training in Manual Physical Therapy at Regis University (2008). Daniel managed a physical therapy and wellness clinic for 3 years at the Regional Transportation District in Denver, CO where he saw first-hand the financial benefit to an organization focused on reducing health care costs through system-level changes including a combination of physical therapy and injury prevention. This motivated the pursuit of PhD training at the University of Otago, NZ where his training focused on the economic analysis of rehabilitation strategies for individuals with hip and knee osteoarthritis (2012).

Dr. Pinto joined Northwestern University as an Assistant Professor (clinician-educator track). Following four years with a primary role as an instructor, Dr. Pinto was awarded a K12 faculty development award (2014-2016) in patient engagement and activation - funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (PI Dave Cella), focusing on identifying individual patient preferences for physical activity.

In 2016, Dr. Pinto was awarded a CoHSTAR Faculty Fellowship to assess the comparative effectiveness of rehabilitation strategies surrounding the joint replacement procedure. In 2017, Dr. Pinto joined Marquette University as an Assistant Professor (tenure track). His primary research interests are to use the tools of economics and behavioral science to create interventions that sustain physical activity behavior change.
