On September 28, the Marquette Physical Therapy Department hosted the second annual Marquette Challenge Gala at the Milwaukee Public Museum. MUPT graduate students, parents, alumni, corporate sponsors, faculty, and staff attended the event, which included a silent auction, dinner, and dancing.
The silent auction included items from a variety of Marquette sports teams, local Milwaukee restaurant gift cards, professional sports memorabilia, and even some specialty outings with MUPT Faculty.
The gala raised over $12,000 for the Foundation for Physical Therapy, a non-profit organization that funds physical therapy research. Specifically, the gala was a fundraiser to support the 2013-2014 Miami-Marquette Challenge, the Foundation’s signature annual fundraising initiative that raises more funds than any other ongoing Foundation fundraiser.
The Challenge is an annual grassroots fundraising effort coordinated and carried out by physical therapist and physical therapist assistant students across the country. The Challenge has raised $2.5 million since its inception at Marquette 25 years ago! Dr. William Boissonnault, President of the Foundation, and Dr. William Cullinan, Dean of Marquette’s College of Health Sciences, spoke about the impact that the Marquette Challenge has had nationally.
