The Freshman Frontier Program (FFP) is designed to expose you to college academics in a gradual way that is meaningful to you. In the summer prior to your first term at Marquette, the program begins with a five-week session on campus when you'll take both credit and non-credit courses in preparation for your college academic career.

Summer Prep

Our program administrators will consult with you and design a summer program that supports your individual needs. Your summer credit course will be supplemented with a Seminar Review, which will meet twice a week. You'll also take two non-credit courses, called Learning Skills courses, designed to help you brush up on skills that many be rusty.

In addition to attending classes during the summer, you will meet regularly with an academic adviser to discuss your progress and to select courses for the fall semester. An adult residence hall coordinator, along with resident peer counselors, hired and trained especially for the Freshman Frontier Program, will assist students living in the residence hall during the summer session.

Your FFP Academic Adviser

During the academic year, you'll be required to meet a minimum of three times a semester with your FFP academic adviser. Tutors are available free of charge if you want extra help. You're in the Freshman Frontier Program for a full year, although FFP students are welcome to use the services of the program on a voluntary basis in their remaining years at Marquette.

By being on campus before any other new freshmen, you have the opportunity to get settled in with residence hall life, become familiar with our campus, and learn to get around Milwaukee. You'll find plenty of things to do when you're not in class.
