Rev. Jayme Stayer, S.J.

Stayer holds a double degree in music and literature from the University of Notre Dame, an MA and a PhD in English literature from the University of Toledo, and an MDiv from Boston College. He has held faculty posts at Texas A&M University-Commerce and Universidad Centroamericana in El Salvador. Currently, he is Associate Professor of Literature atJohn Carroll University, in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to articles and chapters on rhetoric, music, and modernism, Stayer is the co-editor, with Ronald Schuchard and Iman Javadi, of Volume 5 (1934-1939) of The Complete Prose of T. S. Eliot (Johns Hopkins, 2017). His books includeThink About It: Critical Skills for Academic Writing (2014),co-authored with John Mauk and Karen Mauk; T. S.Eliot, France, and the Mind of Europe (editor, 2015); and, in manuscript, Becoming T. S. Eliot: The Rhetoric of Voice and Audience in “Inventions of the March Hare.”He currently serves as the Vice President of the T. S. Eliot Society and is the president-elect of that organization. A professional singer, he has performed with the choruses of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Cleveland Orchestra.
