Samantha Chesney attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to earn her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Molecular and Cellular Biology. After graduating, she worked as a research coordinator in the Center for Traumatic Stress at Rush University Medical Center. Here, she collaborated on a number of projects that investigated psychological and social outcomes related to the experience of trauma.

Currently, she attends Marquette University and is working towards her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Her primary clinical and research interests involve questions of how individuals can adaptively cope with traumatic stress and successfully recover from psychological trauma. Her master’s thesis asked how individual differences in multi-faceted emotion regulation (i.e. emotion regulation profiles) are related to posttraumatic stress symptom severity. Her ongoing work and dissertation project aims to extend this by addressing the crucial dynamics of interpersonal emotion regulation.
