Individualizing the Psychology Major
Students are encouraged to take specific courses according to what the student intends to do after graduating (going on to grad school, working, going to medical school, etc.). The student's major advisor, a professor in the Department of Psychology, assists the student in choosing the appropriate courses.
The Department of Psychology's Course Selection for Psychology Majors identifies recommended course selections for students who are choosing among several possible career paths with their psychology major such as psychology graduate school before professional psychology, business, law, mental health care at the bachelors level, nursing, other health care, or the teaching of psychology. These are suggested course groups, and are not required plans. Those students with other special interests should select a series of courses in close consultation with their faculty advisor.
