  • Memory in aging and dementia

Necessary prerequestites/training?

Students having already taken Psyc 60 and Psyc 90 preferred, but no pre-requisites—training on the job.  Recommend Psyc 122.

Length?

Minimum 1-semester; preferred minimum 2 consecutive semesters.  I allow 1 to 3 credits of Psyc 195 per term and expect availability of at least 5 hours/week.

What will this lab experinece provide to students?

Research design and experience with testing young and older subjects using cognitive and neuropsychological tests

Data coding and analysis with SPSS

Authorship on presentations and research publications through assistance with study completion and writing of papers.  All students in my lab are encouraged to get involved in a project deeply enough to submit an abstracts for presentation and help prepare a paper for publication (earning authorship).

Rewarding aspects of working as a research assistant?

Lots of experience with different tasks and skills; leadership opportunity; strong letters of recommendation for good assistants; opportunity to publish as an undergrad; be part of a great, fun, smart group!
