PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT – July 27, 2011
At approximately 1:30 a.m. a male guest staying at Marquette was approached at 12th and Wisconsin Avenue by four males, aged 18 to 20 years old, wearing black sweatshirts with white T-shirts and black shorts. The subjects demanded the victim’s property, and produced a Taser. The victim fended off the assailants and flagged down a Milwaukee Police squad. Two of the suspects were taken into custody. The victim did not give up any property and was not physically harmed in the incident. DPS and MPD continue to investigate and seek the other suspects.
All Marquette students, staff and guests are reminded to:
- Walk in pairs, being aware of your surroundings at all time.
- Avoid walking through alleys, parking lots or pathways out of the public eye.
- Use the LIMO and safety patrol services provided by DPS. Call 8-6363 for SSP escorts.
- If approached, give up your property.
- Know the locations of blue light phones located throughout campus and in the off-campus.
