Undergraduate Grading System
Marquette uses the 4.000 grade point system to determine an undergraduate's academic average and his/her eligibility to graduate. Each letter grade (A through F) earned in a course carries a specified number of grade points.

All students must earn at least a C (or 2.000) average in courses actually taken at Marquette. If a student's grade point average falls below 2.000, or if the student has accumulated excessive hours of failure, he/she will be given a scholastic censure or may be required to withdraw.
Former students who are applying for readmission should consult their respective deans for information concerning the application of the new grading policy to their earlier academic records.

Credit and No Credit Grades (CR/NC Option)
Junior and senior students are given an option to elect one course per term (to a maximum of four courses) for which only a CR or NC grade is assigned:
-
| Grade | Achievement |
| CR |
Satisfactory completion of the course, equivalent of C work or better. Full credit earned, but the grade does not affect the grade point average.
This grade is an alternative grading option to the A - F scheme used by the colleges in credit-bearing, competency-based courses. |
| NC |
Unsatisfactory completion of the course. No credit earned and the grade does not affect the grade point average.
This grade is an alternative grading option to the A - F scheme used by the colleges in credit-bearing, competency-based courses. |
| SNC |
Satisfactory / No Credit. Mandatory grading option used for satisfactory work done in zero credit-bearing courses. |
| UNC |
Unsatisfactory / No Credit. Mandatory grading option used for unsatisfactory work done in zero credit-bearing courses. |
| SY |
Permanent grade indicating satisfactory work completed in the first term of a series of year-long courses, and where grades are assigned only to the final course in the series |
