1LT Mark Ganey is the lead cadre member at the largest satellite program located at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. He instructs and mentors all levels of ROTC with primary responsibility of Freshman (MS1) and Sophomore (MS2) students. 1LT Ganey continues to lead the charge of re-establishing ROTC at UWM while continuing to have a focus in recruiting, training, and retaining the Army’s future leaders.

1LT Ganey is a native of Wisconsin and a graduate of University of Wisconsin Milwaukee’s MBA program. He also holds undergraduate degrees in Information Technology and Electronics Engineering Technology. He is currently working toward his 2nd Masters degree at UWM with a focus in technology. 1LT Ganey originally enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves in late 1999 as a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. He began his career with the 377th Maintenance Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 1LT Ganey continued his progression through the enlisted ranks and transitioning to the NCO corps in 2004. In 2005 he was called to Active Duty serving in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served in team leader, squad leader, and section leader positions before applying for OCS in 2008.

Upon completion of OCS, 1LT Ganey accepted a commission within the Wisconsin National Guard as a Field Artillery Officer. His initial assignment was as a Support Platoon Leader with Alpha Battery 1-121st FA in Racine, Wisconsin. 1LT Ganey has since completed assignments as Firing Platoon Leader, Operations Officer and S2 (intelligence).

His military awards and decorations include: The Army Commendation Medal, The Army Achievement Medal (3rd oak leaf cluster), Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (4th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M and Hourglass Device, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Overseas Training Ribbon
