TRAINING NCOIC

Sergeant First Class Ian Roberts enlisted in the Army on 4 April 2000, as a Combat Engineer (12B).  He attended basic training and advanced individual training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. 

SFC Roberts has served in a variety of assignments to include; Team Leader and Squad Leader, A/20th Engineer Battalion, Ft Hood, TX; Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant, 59th Mobility Augmentation Company, 20th Engineer Battalion, Ft Hood, TX; Operations Sergeant, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 36th Engineer Brigade, Ft Hood, TX; Platoon Sergeant and Operations Sergeant, A/3rd Special Troops Battalion, Ft Campbell, KY.  He has participated in three campaigns including Operation Desert Spring (Intrinsic Action), Operation Iraqi Freedom II, and Operations Enduring Freedom 06-08, 10-11, 12-13.

SFC Roberts’ military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Course, Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Explosive Ordnance Clearance Agent Course, Rappel Master Course, Air Assault School, Pathfinder School and the Sapper Leader Course.

SFC Roberts’ awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (5 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (4th award), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (3 CS), Iraq Campaign Medal (2 CS), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (#3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon (#4), NATO Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Valorous Unit Award (2 OLC), Meritorious Unit Citation, Combat Action Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, Wheel and Track Vehicle Driver’s Badges, Sapper Tab and the Bronze Order of the DeFleury Medal.

SFC Roberts has been married to his wife Krystle for 11 years and has two children, Aidan and Elodie.
