Adjunct Assistant Professor of Military Science
Major Aprill is a 1992 graduate of Michigan State University and his first assignment was with C. Co, 961st Engineer Battalion (Combat)(Heavy). He served as Platoon Leader of a General Construction Platoon, a Horizontal Construction Platoon (Earthmoving), and as Company Executive Officer/Construction Officer. As a Platoon Leader/Construction Officer he participated in overseas construction missions to Belize and twice to Germany. He then served as Battalion Adjutant (S1) for the 961st for one year and before assuming command of A Co, 961st Engineers in Pewaukee, WI. There he served from November 1999 to December 2002. In January 2003, he assumed command of the 336th Engineer Detachment (Firefighters) in Sturtevant, WI and was mobilized and deployed to Iraq. As one of the few Army fire fighting units, the 336th served as base fire department and provided aircraft crash rescue services to multiple airfields in Iraq. MAJ Aprill redeployed in February 2004 and served as commander of the 336th through April 2006. He joined Marquette University ROTC in Fall of 2006.
His military education includes the Engineer Officer Basic Course, Engineer Captains Career Course, Combined Arms Exercise Course, and the Engineer Combat Support Course.
As a civilian MAJ Aprill has worked in the environmental field for 15 years for a variety of agencies. This includes the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources; Denali National Park, Alaska; and most recently as a Naturalist for Milwaukee County Parks.
