Why I like working at Service Learning

I like working for the Marquette Service Learning Program because it gives students the opportunity to use our Milwaukee community as their classroom. Our city has so much to offer and we can learn so much if we are caring, engaged, open and willing to learn. I also love unpacking service learning experiences with my peers and diving deeper into social injustices that exist while trying to find ways to dismantle systems that perpetuate injustices throughout our city, state, nation and world.

What I hope fellow students will get out of their Service Learning experience

I hope my peers are able to see Milwaukee for what it is; all it has to offer and where healing is needed. Service learning is a mutual beneficial relationship, so I hope my peers are able to see ways in which their talents are needed and how community partnerships can improve upon their skills. My hope is that students who participate in service learning walk away with a better understanding of Milwaukee and social justice.
