Working at Service Learning is a great opportunity to get to know many of the non-profit agencies in the Milwaukee area and see how these agencies are addressing some of the issues in the community. Seeing how we as students can significantly help these agencies to address the need in the community is powerful. In this way, the Service Learning program allows Marquette students to truly "Be the Difference" that our University's motto calls us to be.
I hope Service Learning participants see that they can be a great help to people in need by giving them a little bit of their time each week. My hope is that participants will build relationships with agency clients and staff, feeling personally invested in impacting the lives of the people they are working with. Ideally this will inspire students to be committed to helping others in need in the future.
