April Dates
- 4/26 - Placement descriptions sent. Available sites and orientation dates will be posted on our website, www.mu.edu/servicelearning/dorothyday.shtml.
- 4/29 - 5/1 - Respond with site choices. You will e-mail your completed placement selection form to Ali Hause at allison.hause@marquette.edu, ranking your top 4 placements. Keep in mind your interests, schedules, and orientation dates when selecting a placement, as well as the fact that your Service Learning site will carry over to the Spring semester. Please include your available times to go to each service site.
May Dates
- 5/3 - Notifications. Ali will send you your site placement for the year via e-mail.
- 5/10 - Concerns. Before the semester ends for summer break, please stop by the Service Learning Office to meet with Ali if you have any concerns after notifications.
Fall Dates 2013
- 8/26- Classes Being. Students will take Philosophy of Human Nature together with Fr. James Flaherty, S.J.
- 8/26-9/6 - Site orientations. All orientations are mandatory, and will include a tour of the site, an introduction to your site contact, an overview of the service you will be participating in, and time to submit any required paperwork, as well as have your contract signed.
- 9/7 - Retreat. All of the Dorothy Day participants will be required to attend a retreat on Saturday September 7th. This retreat will allow you to get to know other participants, learn about Dorothy Day, identify expectations for the program, and develop an understanding for a shared definition of social justice that the DDSJ community is working toward.
Spring Dates 2014
- 1/13- Classes Being. Students will take Philosophy: Theory of Ethics together with Fr. James Flaherty, S.J.
- TBA- Spring Retreat. This retreat goes beyond building a community and recognizing how we connect with those right in our neighborhood.
