Description of Agency/Activities:

The mission of ACTS Housing is empowerment through homeownership. Our vision is to create vibrant neighborhoods. We fulfill our mission one strong family at a time. The individuals and families we support are low to moderate income and wish to move from the unstable, and often unsanitary conditions, of the rental market to a home of their own. Their desire to remain in the City, to put down roots and become engaged in their community is one step forward in reclaiming Milwaukee neighborhoods.

Since our inception in 1995, ACTS’ families have purchased over 2,300 homes, reclaimed upwards of 850 foreclosures, and invested over $117 million dollars into the City of Milwaukee. We believe that creating stability and financial security is vital to transforming families and neighborhoods. We measure our success based on homeownership sustainability: 94% of our families are still homeowners today. As of today, ACTS Lending had 100 loans outstanding and 99 are current.

More than 7,000 individuals, the majority of them children, live in homes purchased through the ACTS Program. Children living in owner occupied homes perform better in school. Neighborhoods where families are homeowners form more stable communities.
