Description of Agency/Activities: LISC Milwaukee transforms distressed urban neighborhoods into healthy communities of choice and opportunity—great places to work, do business and raise children.

We mobilize corporate and philanthropic support on behalf of local neighborhoods, providing them with loans, grants and equity investments, policy support, and the technical and management assistance and networks they need to realize their goals.

Student Role at Agency: The service learner will be engaged in one of our most impactful programs, the Associates in Commercial Real Estate or ACRE program. The Associates in Commercial Real Estate (ACRE) Program is an industry-supported initiative that recruits and retains minorities for professional careers in the field of commercial real estate. The ACRE program was created by Professor Mark Eppli and the Marquette University College of Business in 2005 and is now administered through LISC Milwaukee in partnership with Marquette University, the Milwaukee School of Engineering, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The goal of the Associates in Commercial Real Estate (ACRE) Program is to expand minority representation in the commercial real estate fields of development, property management, and construction management. This program offers students the opportunity to expand their knowledge of these industries while creating a valuable network of fellow students, ACRE graduates and industry professionals.  The service learner will be working in support of the program administration.  This includes, coordination of presenters, communications with stakeholders, funders, and students, social media management, and other administrative duties as assigned.
