Description of Agency/Activities: A Native American, culturally specific alternative high school that opened in 1994. Students are split into 4 "home-bases," in an ungraded setting. One goal of the school is to foster interdependence among the students, so the older students are integrated with the younger students to assist in offering help or guidance. They are attempting to incorporate cultural elements of the 12 tribes represented in the school.

Student Role in Agency: Service Learners participate in tutoring students, as well as observing various cultural activities and the alternative education practices that the students are involved in at that time. The school looks for Service Learners to not only be tutors but to become a part of and respect their community. They prefer older MU students--juniors, seniors, graduate students, or returning students.

Orientation/Requirements: Orientation is to be arranged individually with the site contact. 2 hrs/week serving commitment throughout the semester.
