UCC Adult Day Center

The Adult Day Center (ADC) is accessed via the main entrance on 9th Street.


By car: Head south on N 16th St. Turn left onto W National Ave. Turn right onto S 10th St. Turn left onto W Washington St, turn left onto S 9th St.

By bus: Take the #23 toward Greenfield/70th. Get off at National and S9. Walk 5 minutes.

Orientation: February 5th at 10-11:30am OR 1-2:20pm OR February 7th from 10-11:30am OR 2-3:30pm

Days/Hours of Volunteering: General days and times for service are Monday-Friday from 11:30am to 2pm. More information on specific days and times are available when students sign up to work with the agency.

Description of Agency/Activities:

The Adult Day Center provides direct services for frail and/or cognitively impaired adults, particularly those who are Hispanic, to decrease their isolation and optimize their in-home functioning, thereby delaying or preventing the need for institutionalization. Programming components include: social services, therapeutic art services, therapeutic recreation and educational activities, health related services, nutritional services, and programming for participants with Alzheimer's disease or dementia.

Student Role at Agency: Assist program coordinator and staff with daily duties: setting table, washing/drying dishes, cleaning/organizing kitchen, serving food to seniors, creating/managing spreadsheets in excel, data entry and filing, conversing with seniors, and if musically inclides, practicing or performing for the seniors.

*Knowledge of Spanish is helpful for this position.
