Rajiv Vinnakota: Social Entrepreneur in Residence, Fall 2010

Rajiv VinnakotaRajiv Vinnakota is co-founder and managing director of the SEED Foundation Inc., an organization devoted to bringing outstanding educational opportunities to underserved inner-city communities.

Before he co-founded SEED, Vinnakota was an associate at Mercer Management Consulting, where he worked on strategic and financial projects for a variety of industries. He has been involved with programs for inner-city and adjudicated children and served on the board of the Empower Program, which worked with youth to end the culture of violence. He graduated from Princeton University with a degree in molecular biology and a certificate of studies from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public Policy. Vinnakota is an Echoing Green Fellow, an Ashoka Fellow and a former trustee of Princeton University. He serves his alma mater as the national chair for annual giving and is on the executive committee of the university's "Aspire" capital campaign. Vinnakota is also board director for Colfax Corp. (NYSE: CFX) a public company. For Vinnakota's work at the SEED Foundation, Washingtonian magazine named him "Washingtonian of the Year," and he received the Manhattan Institute’s Social Entrepreneurship Award and an Oprah Winfrey Use Your Life Award. In 2009, Vinnakota received Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson Award, the highest honor the university bestows on an undergraduate alumnus. He is married and has one daughter and two cats.
