Project: For the Sake of Modesty: Veiling
On Today's College Campus
Description: This educational video was produced
to explore the perceptions and experiences of Muslim
women who veil on today's college campus. Its focus
is on the influence from a large Mid-western college
campus on these Muslim women's social and academic
involvement, which often provided an impetus for some
to re-evaluate wearing the hijab, (veil). A discussion
of veiling, types of veils worn, and suggestions for
improving their college experience are also presented.
The video has direct application to classes in multiculturalism
and adult learning and development.
An Apple computer, digital video camera and a digital
video editing application (iMovie) was used to produce
the video.
